As we approach the 30th anniversary of Margaret Hilda Thatcher winning the May 3rd election, perhaps the greatest comment on the years of Tory rule comes from the man raised in Birkenhead (and who was once quoted as saying his greatest sorrow was listening to Tranmere's defeat on penalties to Aston Villa in the League Cup semi).
