If ever it needed emphasising what illogical twisters the BNP are, then let's see its reaction to today's story that BNP members have allegedly been discovered working for the Asylum Service. In many ways this is like those Euro sceptics who lambast the EU as a waste of space and then soak up as much as they can from the trough when becoming MEPs. Kilroy, Farage et al take a bow.

Cue Richard Barnbrook's wet nurse, Simon Darby to lead the troops. He refers to an interview with the dastardly BBC about an article in The Independent.

Explaining that a national media organ trying to pass itself off as some bastion of mainstream ideology and opinion whilst in effect being nothing more than a nest of liberal, multicultural fanatics was a far more serious matter......

Next he'll be claiming some of the Daily Mail staff have leanings towards the Tories or that Der Sturmer had the odd Nazi sympathiser in its offices.

The fact that Darby and ilk seek to deflect the potential problems of having people employed to deal with Asylum Seekers who have allegiance to a party that has as its policy,

• We will also clamp down on the flood of ‘asylum seekers’, all of whom are either bogus or can find refuge much nearer their home countries.

Note the ALL. Note that no mention is made of the 'Geneva Convention' on refugees and our responsibilities under it.

As The Indy article makes plain, there has been concern for years over the treatment of people detained. Coupled with worries about institutional racism and a culture of silence, it is natural that a full investigation should be held . Whilst it is not possible to prove there is a link between membership of extreme parties such as Darby's mob and racial discrimination and abuse, it does not take much thought to want to ask the inevitable question - who guards the guards?

Race Hate Pair Flee to US for political asylum

TWO men convicted of publishing race-hate articles on the internet have skipped bail and fled to the United States to claim political asylum, the Yorkshire Post can reveal.

Simon Sheppard and Stephen Whittle were given bail by a judge at Leeds Crown Court on Friday, despite having been found guilty of a series of race-related offences.

The pair were due to return to court on Monday while a jury continued deliberating over further charges, but they failed to turn up.

Last night Sheppard, 51, and Whittle, 41, were being held by immigration officials at Los Angeles Airport – outside the jurisdiction of the British court system.

It is believed that the pair travelled from the UK to Ireland by ferry before taking a direct flight to Los Angeles.

They are likely to have their case considered at an immigration hearing in the US before UK authorities can secure their return.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police, which led the race-hate investigation, said: "We are led to believe that they are indeed being detained by the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (INS) at Los Angeles Airport.

"They are in custody and we are in liaison with the INS to establish that this pair are our two men and, if so, what is likely to happen to them."

Sheppard, of Brook Street, Selby, was found guilty after a seven-week trial of 11 counts of publishing racially inflammatory written material.

The jury gave unanimous verdicts on nine of the charges on Friday, and returned with two majority verdicts on Monday while Sheppard was absent.

Whittle, of Avenham Lane, Preston, was convicted of five counts of publishing racially inflammatory written material.

Four of the verdicts were reached unanimously on Friday, and the fifth was returned by a majority of 10 to one on Monday after Whittle had absconded.

The jury were unable to reach verdicts on seven further race-related charges which Sheppard faced.

A spokeswoman for the Crown Prosecution Service said it had yet to decide whether Sheppard should be retried on the seven outstanding charges. It has 14 days to reach a decision.

The case is due to be considered further at a hearing at Leeds Crown Court on July 28.

Story Of The Blues

In this verbose world in which we live in, I have often said that we can glean far more from what is not said than from what is said. As Dr Winston O'Boogie aka John Lennon stated, 'A conspiracy of silence speaks louder than words.'

Fresh from my latest trip to Poland, it was interesting to see a good example in today's Daily Mail. No doubt the Mail's readership are too busy celebrating their electoral successes to be bothered with commenting on stories, but two pieces caught my eye.

Firstly, the usual immigration/asylum story. I was in Poland when the story broke over figures showing that many Poles were returning home. Not so long ago the right-wing press turned this into a desertion as opposed to the previous flooding/swamping.

Now, we have a bit of a non-story about some people (according to an Immigration Officer) reportedly giving the weather (so much for global warming huh!) and the NHS as a reason for LEAVING Open-Door UK. I can't be arsed saying more as the article is by our fiend (sic) James Slack and a cursory perusal of his words show that the actual figures of people involved may be counted on one of Littlejohn's hairy-palmed hands.

Suffice to say, there are 70+ comments. Read them. I bet you can't guess what the rational green-inkers of Mail Land say about this one. Click here if you dare.

I'm not one to have sour grapes about results. The blue boys won and the reds have only themselves to blame for own goals etc.

For the first time ever, a BNP candidate stood in my area. He secured over 200 votes. We did not receive any literature from this scum party (oh but it's a legitimate party, Eric) but still people voted for this evil group. We can blame scaremongering, the press, (or having a printing business if you are Cooke of Tamworth) but have no doubts that these Fascists would go down the same path that led to Avram Grant's father being subjected to the torture of Auschwitz.

So I say congrats to Chelsea and hope the Tories enjoy their success; but the reds will be back.

The Hate Machine Gets A Crank Up.

The Mail is predicting there may be an election in October. It is piling on the pressure in its crusade to feed the bigotry of its readership. There have been stories about Poles claiming Child Benefit, amnesties for illegal immigrants and French action on migrants.

What about our own kids that are trained, speak the language? They can't get jobs.- Jacqui Weems, Southampton

This woman should have her own column. There is no beginning to her in depth analysis of the political issues of the day. She doesn't like foreign people. Immigration is her favourite subject.

There is an argument to be had as the use of Zimbabwean nurses. The article, to be fair, points out that it is contrary to supposed Government policy. Also, one can understand anyone wanting to flee the evil Mugabe regime.

However, this does not excuse the Weems woman. At least she managed to use the apostrophe in this post but her first sentence is hardly perfect English. The hatred in her comment beams out; she does not think that the nurses will speak English with no evidence for this assertion.

In the story about French riot police dealing with people 'intent on entering the UK', she throws her hat into the ring:

Surely its time for us to close our doors to all these immigrants. It does not surprise me that we are the problem, we are too tolerant and generous for our own good. Time to say enough is enough.- Jacqui Weems, Southampton

Funny that there were no comments on the story that Britain is the fifth favourite destination for asylum seekers (behind the USA, Greece, Sweden and FRANCE). It doesn't quite back up the claims of those that say that we are the soft touch of Europe.

Notice too that the report by UNHCR - the United Nations refugee agency makes the valid point that Iraq is a major reason for an increase. There is a correlation between the actions of this country in foreign policy and the number of refugees. In the same way, our colonial policy has had repercussions in the past.

Oh, but our heroine is not finished. In the story about a man convicted for assisting fraudulent passport applications she dips her big(oted) toe in the water:

Fortunately, Weems is not representative of Southampton people. I came cross this site which has an interesting section on immigration in the city. After all, Southampton has a tradition of being the first port of call for those making a new life here. It is also historically a port of embarkation for those seeking a new life away from these shores. The Titanic sailed from there and I was reminded of the city when the QE2 (registered there) docked in Liverpool yesterday.

Rather strangely, the Mail is serialising Tony Benn's latest diaries and there seems to be an absence of comments saying what a barking mad danger he is (copyright Littlejohn).

The Asylum Lottery

It's been a couple of days since the rational and fair-minded Daily Mail has had a story on asylum/immigration but it comes up trumps today. It has chanced upon one of its favourite themes - wasting of lottery funds on foreign projects. The gist of the story is that a grant of over £400,000 has been given to an organisation to help successful asylum seekers claim welfare benefits. Unfortunately in DM Land, asylum and immigration are often confused into one.

Now, there can be a debate as to what the Lotto Good Causes Fund should be used for. We often see local projects which, on the face of it, seem to be suitable but are turned down. There is also the argument that such help should be funded from taxation. The Mail, however, does not seek to debate, merely to inflame hate.

There is also the rules that do not allow asylum seekers to work immediately. We have the potential of many doctors, teachers and business managers being wasted. The tone suggests that all those needing help are not literate. This need not be so. The Social Security legislation and process is very complex and ever changing. Having represented people at appeals tribunals I am fully aware of this. Also, lawyers specialising in other areas have little or no understanding. Many organisations that help people on welfare are voluntary bodies.

The DM bigots (as can be seen by the usual moronic comments) fail to understand that as signatories to the 1951 Geneva Convention on Asylum, we have a duty to these people. Don't forget this money is being utilised to help those that have convinced the authorities they are genuine. You can imagine how greater the furore would be if the money was to aid failed applicants.

Furthermore, we should remember the circumstances that brought this about. There was a collective guilt at the lack of provision given to those fleeing Nazi persecution. How often do we see the dead of WWII invoked to support an argument for increasing pensions or better health care. The irony is not lost. Take, for instance, our friend from Leeds :

Given that the town became famous for the myth of a monkey being hanged because they thought it was a Frenchman, one wonders if there is any truth in it.

The actual article also quotes Ruth Levy of the Centre For Policy Studies. This is a right-wing think tank set up by Keith Joseph, the mad Tory MP whose prodigy was Margaret Hilda Thatcher. No mention is made of this. Most DM readers would be unaware of this and so give more credibility to the view as if it were independent. At least when Andrew Green of Migrationwatch is quoted it is more likely that people will realise he has an axe to grind.

The article also churns up previous misdemeanours. "In recent years, The Big Lottery Fund has handed out hundreds of thousands of pounds to help battered wives in Siberia and to a pressure group for prostitutes."

This is an interesting juxtaposition. Obviously no normal person would want to give money to help victims of violence or the oldest profession. I wonder how any mail readers actually use sex workers' services. Many are from Eastern Europe and are forced into this due to the pressures of the asylum process. Many are subject to assaults. Nothing to do with us, implies the DM, charity begins at home.
Of course this is the paper that employs Richard Littlejohn who said after the murder of Ipswich prostitutes, that they were "disgusting, drug-addled street whores" and their deaths were "no great loss". He added that for prostitutes, being murdered is "an occupational hazard" stemming from their own "free choice". Not a surprise is it?

There is a ground swell of opinion that says we don't want any more asylum seekers until we have assimilated the present lot.Lottery money seems to be given to anything that seems too stupid for the Government to fund.Anything that stupid does not deserve funding.We have thousands of old people and disabled who would welcome funding, but don't get it, and what about the armed forces, I'm sure lottery funding would be welcome. This used to be a standard answer to any question about improving everything in the UK, education, health, English football. 'If only Branson were running it....blah blah.' I'm sure that Mr B will be horrified to see some of his fans. There was the suggestion that the people could tick boxes as to where the money went. If this happens I will get a job in a newsagents and alter any DM buying lotto player's form to note asylum causes.

Yet again the indigenous population who have worked hard and contributed for years are raped of their taxes, national insurance contributions, local services and the right to retire without working to the grave so that it can be given to those who haven't (and won't!).But hang on... think about it. After all, several million migrants can't be wrong can they - perhaps those indigenous ones of us who do contribute should follow their lead and migrate ourselves, taking our money and contributions with us. NOW that's what I call ignorance

A short post today. I watched the Perseus meteor shower last night. For once the sky was clear and the sight was worth staying up for. I do have a stiff neck though. It is amazing to think that the flying particles that shoot across the night sky are little more than the size of a grain of sand.

A million times smaller than that is the brain of a News of The World reader. I don't normally find myself peering at the filth and lies they vomit, but I noticed the large number of comments about a story that a local council was decorating and refurbishing some properties used to house asylum seekers.

Obviously, the vast majority of readers believe that they should live in septic tanks and eat dust. The usual racist morons trotted out the tired cliches about asylum seekers getting free cars, mobile phones etc. Newspapers like the NOW like to stir up matters with such exaggerated hate-filled gutter journalism. Myths become fact. Light the blue touchpaper and exeunt.

The comments are not worthy of a reply, but one particular rant caught my eye as I enjoy idiots being hoist upon their own petard.
